Figure Drawing Reflection

We just finished our figure drawing unit, and it's left me with a lot to think about. I think that the presence of a guest artist really influenced my process this time, because it made me more likely to avoid contour and focus on messier lines. I also tried really hard this time to capture movement over proportion (my proportion was usually at least okay anyway, so I think that worked out). I focused a lot on that overstated center line of the figure. The other thing that really influenced my process was the fact that I was working from life, which helped me see the weight and movement of the figure more easily than photos. This also made it easier to conceptualize the figure as 3D.
