This week I started to work in earnest on my Artist Copy Project. I'm working to copy the mark of Raphael's Study for the Phrygian Sibyl. So far, I think that my progress has been okay-ish. I've been liking the shapes/direction of my marks, although I have noticed some things that I don't love. For example, I feel like my lines aren't confident enough, which is probably because I'm nervous about using Cante, as I never has before. I also feel like some of my earlier lines are too dark. Overall, though, I am feeling kind of cautiously optimistic.
Here is my piece's progression in chronological order for this week.
Also--how do you spell Cante? I looked it up and I found both "Cante" and "Conté," and they kind of sound like different things (Unless they're the same thing? Are they?), so really my biggest challenge for this week has been trying to figure out how to spell the medium that I'm using. Also, is it meant to be capitalized? I have so, so many questions.
